Situated on South Bishop Avenue, the Rustic Motel Rolla is conveniently located near ample shopping and eateries along the bustling I-44 frontage road. The motel is within walking distance to a few attractions since this area is not very pedestrian-friendly; fine dining and shopping at the historic downtown are only a short drive away. Guests at the motel can walk for 5 to 10 minutes in any direction and find a plethora of quick-service restaurants including Sonic Drive-In, McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s. That’s convenient for any traveler to get a quick and cheap meal without going back to the car.

The Missouri University of Science and Technology (S&T) campus is also quite close; in fact, one can walk to the campus edge in 15-20 minutes although most people would prefer to drive to a building. A car is required for much meaningful sightseeing-if one intends to visit the historic Phelps County Courthouse or the shops on Pine Street, that is roughly between 1 and 1.5 miles. The Motel’s walkable urban setting more aptly supports utilitarian walking trips taken by automobile travelers for easy access to food and gas rather than leisure or tourism.
