Quick Tips
Another tip that light sleepers should bear in mind is to ask for a room on the Bishop Avenue opposite side of the motel. Rooms to the front are much exposed to great road noise due to trucks and traffic, whereas those to the back or side are generally much quieter ensuring a more peaceful night’s rest.
Make good use of your budget with the in-room microwave and fridge in the room. The motel does not provide breakfast, so a good hack is to stop at a local supermarket (Price Chopper or Walmart is within a few minutes' drive) to get breakfast stuff, drinks, and snacks. This will save you some money and help you get an early start to your day.
Use the motel as your affordable base camp for exploring the attractions of the region. Some very beautiful areas in Missouri are just minutes away, for incredible fishing opportunities, excellent hiking, and a look at some historic iron works. And don't forget you are smack dab in the middle of the "Ozark Highlands" wine region. In just 10 minutes, you can drive to Missouri's well-known St. James Winery for tours and tastings.
Last stop for today in the review of local history and just a little bit of fun is to have a look at Missouri Megalith, the partial Stonehenge reconstruction standing on the campus of Missouri S&T. This quirk of a local landmark deserves a quick photo. To take a good non-chain meal, drive to the historic downtown and enjoy one of the local favorites like Alex’s Pizza, or Public House Brewing Company.
